The City

Oviedo is the administrative and commercial centre of the region and the capital of the Principality of Asturias. Located in the heart of Cantabrian Spain, Asturias delights in the geographical features which make it a true natural paradise. Its temperate climate and comfortable summer weather invites to a cultural and rural tourism as well as the summer tourism at the beach.

The town is very interesting from an historical point of view: in the old city centre you can find the essence of Oviedo, with its monuments and its history. To take a walk among the streets, bring us to the origins of the town, in the VIII century, to the city walls, to the medieval town, seat of the last Asturians Kings and last centre of Cristianity, well represented by the wonderful Cathedral. Oviedo conserved its heritage and improved its patiently combined it with the impulse of modernity and cosmopolitan town. Today the town is proyected to an international scene thanks to the Premios Príncipe de Asturias and the Campus Internacional.

The modern town include also a new Congress Center designed by the valencian architecte Calatrava: the structure will be another attractive symbol of this lively town.
