The Old City (Casco Antiguo) is largely formed by narrow alleys, which lead the visitor to a number of plazas.  The newer part consist of wide avenues and modern buildings.  Cádiz also has a large number of parks.
The city is loved because of its beautiful beaches.  It is said, that is home to some of Spain’s most beautiful beaches (La Playa de la Caleta, La Playa de laVictoria, La Playa de Santa María del Mar).  Due their beauty it was the muse of many songs, and was a location of many movies.

City review

Pros:

Cadiz is a beautiful city of tipical Andalusian character.
Oldest existing city of western Europe.
Cádiz is the home to some of Spain's most beautiful beaches.
The Carnival of Cádiz in february is world famous.

Cons:

The Spanish in Cádiz differs from the Castilian Spanish. The Andalusian dialect of European Spanish is spoken in Andalusia, which might be harder to understund for a foreigner, or for a student of Spanish language. Of course you may consider it as a pro as well, because if you will understand the people in Cádiz, you will understand to everyone on the peninsula.
Because of the beautiful beaches you may miss a lot of classes!
